Bodynamic system: sphere of activities
Living in the present
The Bodynamic System primarily focuses on present life. Obviously one’s past plays a part in the present. Therefore, where the past influences current life in a negative way and causes difficulties, it will come into focus. However, attention predominantly remains on how clients can lead a satisfactory present life.
• working with developmental problems
An important element is the tension between the need for connection with others on the one hand and a fear of losing one’s dignity in this relationship on the other. This tension can play part in every stage of development and can result in underdevelopment of latent abilities or over use of matured faculties. In therapy we here use the character structure model and we work with hyper- and hypo-tension of muscles.
• working with shock trauma
One of the strengths of the Bodynamic System is working with shock. If people have had shocking experiences in the past that they haven't been able to come to terms with, it will affect their functioning in their present lives. Physical complaints, stress and difficulties with relationships are common symptoms. Specific therapeutic methods are used to help put the traumatic experience in the past, in order for it not to influence present daily life. In this therapy we 'reactivate' healthy impulses through specific physical actions in relation to psychological issues.
• coaching and working with teams
The Bodynamic System has developed specific models for guidance in stress management, conflict management, team development and negotiation.
